Current Services and Activities
It is the intent of Alpha Supported Living Services to provide positive support to adults with developmental disabilities in order to encourage and empower each individual to experience full and enriching lives. By providing an array of supports, the agency endeavors to create an environment that nurtures individuality and self-determination. These supports will include, but will not be limited to:
Assisting individuals in developing and exercising personal preferences and choices in activities of daily living, with the knowledge that individuals grow and learn through varied activities and that new experiences maximize learning and growth.
- Assisting individuals in developing their abilities and competencies through age-appropriate activities and opportunities, which help build self-esteem and also include each person in the community as much as possible.
- Assisting and/or encouraging individuals to develop relationships with people in the community, as well as providing support and counseling in the development and maintenance of relationships with family members.
- Assisting individuals in creating and selecting activities/opportunities based upon desires, abilities and individual preferences, and to be aware of religious, cultural and ethnic differences.
- Assisting individuals in developing an understanding and appreciation of community life through respect for their own and other's property, cooperation with others, taking and accepting responsibility for self and property, and participation in a wide variety of aspects of community life.
- Assisting individuals in developing their total health (physical, mental and social) that will provide physical activity, motor coordination (within abilities), optimal health, and constructive forms of tension or frustration release, including (but not limited to) emotional/behavioral stability, friendships and fellowships, qualities of teamwork and appreciation of others, grooming and appearance.
